IPTV for Smart TVs: setup on Samsung, LG and Android TV

Large wall-mounted Smart TV in a living room

A Smart TV is often the simplest option: no extra box and just one remote. However, installation depends on your television's operating system. Here is how to proceed in each case.

Identify your television's operating system

Samsung Smart TVs run Tizen, LG TVs run webOS, and many other brands (Sony, TCL, Philips, Xiaomi…) use Android TV or Google TV. The system name is usually listed under ‘About’ in settings.

Install an IPTV app for your Smart TV

Each system has its own app store.

Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS)

These televisions do not have access to the Play Store. Use an app available in their store, such as iBoproPlayer: our dedicated guide explains activation step by step.

Android TV and Google TV

Open the Play Store and install IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate. Then sign in using your Xtream Codes credentials or an M3U URL.

Improve playback on your Smart TV

If the picture stutters, use an Ethernet cable, close background apps and check that your television is up to date. On an older or slower model, a Fire Stick or Android box connected via HDMI can provide smoother navigation.

  • Update the television's software
  • Use Ethernet where possible
  • Restart the TV after installation

Frequently asked questions

Can I install IPTV Smarters Pro on a Samsung TV?
The app is not distributed through the Samsung store. An alternative such as iBoproPlayer is recommended on Tizen.
What if my Smart TV is old?
A Fire Stick or Android box connected via HDMI lets you use newer apps on an older television.
Do I need a 4K TV?
No. A Full HD TV works perfectly well; 4K is only useful if your television and connection support it.
